Quiet buildings
for real places
Atelier Norra is an architecture and interiors studio in Portland, Maine. We design houses, workplaces and small public buildings that sit well in their landscape.
Approach
We start with the site, not a style. Light, weather, the walk from the car, the view from the sink — the plan grows from those.
Every project is led by a partner from first sketch to handover. We keep the studio small on purpose: twelve people, a model shop and one long table.
Most of our clients come to us with a piece of land and a list of how they want to live. We help them shape the brief, the budget and the building, then stay on site until it's built right.

Working with us
Ideally before you buy land or commit to a renovation. A short site study can save you from a lot that won't fit your brief or budget.
Fixed fees by stage for most houses, typically 10–14% of construction cost for full service. Feasibility studies start at a flat $4,500.
Yes, across New England and occasionally further, partnering with a local architect of record where licensing requires it.
Usually 8–12 months of design and permitting, then 12–18 months of construction, depending on size, site and contractor availability.
